NEW STORY

Epilouge - Written by alli l hosler

MAIN GIRL: Kara - Naturally Blonde beauty that frequently dyes her hair and seeks out change in her day to day life. She's an ambitious girl, a smart girl, and a girl of few words. She is loved by all, but known by few. She's a classic beaut with many talents and can draw in almost anyone she speaks with.

MAIN BOYY!: Andrew: An infamous brunette that has a never dying reputation for being a boy that lives on the edge. He parties hard, works hard, and seeks out adventure. But, most importantly, he lives life to the fullest. He's popular among the girls, but doesn't do relationships, he has a hard past, and seems to be just gliding through school, which is leading him into a slick future.

UHMRELATIONSHIPS!?!

MAIN GIRL: She has a Mother & A Father. They're big in the business world. She has no siblings because well, she just doesn't. She gets along well with her parents. She has many acquaintances (lmao bad spell) but few people she actually would consider 'friends' and she tries to avoid dating as much as possible. For a simple fear of being hurt.

MAIN BOII:

Well you see, He has a brother, and they live with their Grandfather. His father died when he was very young and his mother then abandoned him and his brother leaving them in their grandfather's care. He doesn't do relationships either; he's more of a hook-up kind of man. He has many friends, none of them seem to be the best influence on a boy like him, but they're friends.

No title yet.. Dedicated to Alli L Hosler for
inspiration and belief in me.

Chapter 1.

Andrew was sitting at his home, with his younger brother; their grandpa was out playing bingo. It's been exactly eight years since the day his mother left him and his brother, there. He was strong about it, but his brother on the other hand, was having a hard time again this year. Andrew looked at him and said "you know she made the choice she did not want us, it's not like she died, it was something she choose. So you shouldn't care so much." His brother Vince looked up at him, and just hung his head not having the guts to stick up to him. "You know what you need is a girlfriend, or some friends or something!"

"Why do I need a girlfriend? How would you know anyway, not like you have been with a girl for more than twenty-four hours?" Vince snapped back.

"Well because if you had someone to talk to you wouldn't be stuck here all the time. Dwelling on old shit that can't be changed. And never will change!"

Vince just didn't want to put up with Andrew anymore so he went to his room.
Andrew waited for his latest girl to call him, so they could meet up somewhere.

Instead he got a call from Carl, a friend who was much older about 22, wanting him to come to a party, at an old abandoned building. He left a note for his grandpa and went. His beat up Chevy, slowly putted along to the parking lot. He could see the 3rd floor was where the party was. He followed some unfamiliar girls in. They kept turning their heads to look at him; he wasn't bad looking, ravishing in fact with his brunette head and his radiant green eyes, and a hardly seen but gorgeous smile.

He got a glass of beer from the keg near the door, as he looked around and saw many familiar faces, that'd he seen lots of different places, Carl walked over to him, and greeted him with weird look. "some really great pussy here tonight, better get it while it's hot!" Andrew laughed, with an agreeing look. As he walked up to this girl who looked very out of place, with her Red hair, and blonde showing through, she wore heels, and jeans that were tight, and a shirt that was slightly see through. But she didn't fit in and he knew exactly why. She was a girl from his high school, the photographer, and shy one.

"What are you doing at a party like this?" he asked her quietly.
She didn't respond, looking around for someone like she was waiting.
"What's the matter, I don't bite."
"You're Andrew right?" she said
"yeah, and you're uh, don't tell me."
"I'm Kara, have you seen Joey?"
"Afraid I don't know who Joey is, but I can show you a good time."
She sort of looked at him interestedly, but then her face changed quickly and she replied, "no I have to find him we're not supposed to be here long."

Please Comment.

Part  2.

He was attracted to her, but he wasn’t getting the expected response. Kara stepped away to go down a dark hall way. She opened a few doors looking for Joey, but just kept finding drunken kids, anticipating there hook ups, or already hooking up. Andrew followed behind her, she turned around “why are you following me?” she questioned. He looked at her, with a half smile.
“I’m making sure you don’t wander off into the wrong room.” He replied
“what is that supposed to mean?”
“It means I know you haven’t partied like this before and you don’t know what goes on in these places.”
“You mean like Drugs and shit?” She stopped, and leaned against the wall. Andrew admired her natural beauty. “I’m done looking for him, I’m just going to leave.”
“If you didn’t drive, you’re not in the right side of town to be walking alone.”
She sighed, “He drove, I’ll just call home my dad will come get me.”
“I can take you!”
“I don’t really know you, and you’ve been drinking.”
“I had one drink, and I set it down before I started talking to you, and I’m not going to hurt you. I’ll take you home, a friends, a bar, a club, to NYC, wherever you want to go.”
“Fine, but no funny stuff though.”

He lead her to his car, she climbed in the passenger side and he slide into the driver seat.
Carl came up to his window. “You didn’t stay long,” then he noticed Kara “and I see why.”
Kara scoffed at Carl, and Andrew didn’t reply. They left.

“Where am I taking you?” Andrew asked
“Home.” She replied.
“What street?”
“ 438 Burdon St.”
“I only live a block away.”
“Well you can just go to your house and I’ll walk if you’d like.”
he gave her a look, that was kind of questioning if it was an insult or thoughtfulness that came off wrong. She uneasily responded “I’m sorry, I wasn’t saying anything, Just that it’s kind of pointless to drive an extra block.”
“Tell me something?”
“What?”
“Why do you trust me?”
“What makes you think that I do?”
“The fact you just really met me, and you got in my car regardless of your instincts.”
“Are you trying to tell me I shouldn’t have?”
“No, I’m just wondering, if you’re always this trusting.”
“No I’m not.”

 Part 3

Andrew lit a cigarette, as he stopped at a red light. Kara rolled down her window. He’s cute she thought to herself, but the rumors, say he’s not a relationship man. “It’s my turn to ask you something.”
“Okay…” Andrew responded.
“Why did you come up and talk to me anyway?”
“Babe, you’re hot. And you stood out.”
Kara didn’t take compliments well, so she just didn’t say anything.
The ride seemed to be taking a long time. Conversation struck, and the two started talking about everything, Kara told Andrew about her parents not really being home often, because of business trips and that’s why she works so hard at school because that’s the only thing she can really do to get their full attention.
Andrew talked about his father’s death and the way his mom took off, when he was ten years old.
And that he didn’t see a point in school so he never really put a lot of effort into it. He’s better with hands on work.

In that short time they started a bond.
When they got to his house, he walked her home. Which she appreciated since it was dark, and she was kind of frightened, being alone at night in any neighborhood.

That girl had something over him, he didn’t try to get in her house, in her pants, he just wanted to talk to her.  This really freaked him out. She asked him for his phone number, “in case I ever need to be rescued again.” He smiled and agreed giving it to her.
Then they parted ways.

Kara was really open to a boy she hardly knew it startled her. She hoped he parents were home but they weren’t, dad had an office meeting according to the note on the kitchen island. She got a diet coke, and went to take a shower. After her shower she went to her room, and hung his number on her bulletin board with a ton of pictures she’d taken over the year.

Part 4

Andrew walked home from Kara’s, and when he got inside he realized his grandfather wasn’t home from bingo yet, so he just sat down in the tv room and turn it on. Flipping through channels he thought about the events that had just taken place, this was the first time he’d even had a conversation with a girl that didn’t involve sex, in any way. He had a lot of hook ups, and he wasn’t sure if he was proud of them anymore. Eventually he made his way to his bed room, and fell asleep.

The next day he woke up to a text from an unknown number that read “Didn’t know if you’d be interested but I’m going for a few laps around that neighborhood jogging, come outside if you want to join.” He was slightly confused, and a second message came up “oh by the way this is Kara.” Andrew decided what the hell he might as well. So he put some pants and a t-shirt on and made his way down stairs, where his grandfather greeted him with “wow you’re up early, must be a really hot date.” Andrew slowly looked at him, and responded “No, I’m just going for a jog.” His grandpa was dumbfounded him exercising wow. Andrew slipped on his shoes and went out the door. He didn’t see Kara anywhere so he sat down waiting to catch her on her next lap around. About a minute later Kara became visible Jogging down the side walk iPod in hands. He stood up and she slowed down, removing the head phones from her ears. “I didn’t think you’d really come!” she admitted with a smile on her face.
“I’m surprised I am going.” He joked.
“well I’m glad you are. Ready?”
“ready as I’ll ever be.” They took off down the road. The whole time Kara never managed to put her headphones back in her ears, they talked again. About family and how Kara always wanted a sibling, and how Andrew would sell Vince to her for a small fee. About past relationships, and about friends. They jogged about 2 miles before deciding they were too tried to keep going. They parted at Kara’s house, she went inside and Andrew continued to his house. After that day the two of the continued to find time for one another, just becoming great friends.

About Six months later in the spring. Instead of going to a party, the two decided to go rent movies and invite a couple of friends over. Well it was about 11pm and none of their friends showed up to Kara’s. So They walked down to Andrew’s to see if anyone had showed up their by mistake. His grandfather was out, and Vince was in his room. So Andrew made his way upstairs to ask Vince. He knocked on the door and he heard a bunch of whispers. Then Vince said hold on. Well Andrew waited a few seconds before Vince came to the door. “Vinny, has anyone stopped by?” Andrew asked.
“Not that I’ve seen.”
“Who is here?”
“No one just my friend.”
“Okay, What were you doing?” Andrew interrogated?
“Nothing why?” vinny responded.
Andrew didn’t respond and just went downstairs where Kara was sitting on the couch.
He told Kara about what just happened, and said to her “it all adds up I think Vinny is gay, and just isn’t coming out to me yet.”
“Don’t jump to conclusions, Andrew it might have been watching a movie or something.”

Part 5

Andrew and Kara finished the night out with just walking around the neighborhood talking. It was a rather warm night in the early spring; the two stopped at the park and decided to sit on the swings. In the distance Kara noticed another person walking. She pointed this out to Andrew, he told her not to worry. Eventually the person approached the two of them; he was an older man and asked for a cigarette. Andrew gave him one and the man lit it and walked away. Kara was slightly relieved. Andrew then lit him a cigarette, and suggested they head back to the one of their houses, she said “let’s go to yours and see if you’re grandpa is home.”

Once the two of them got back to Andrew’s they seen his grandfather had returned home. The three of them sat around for a while talking. Kara had grown to love the stories Andrew’s grandfather told, ones about the Korean War, and ones about Andrew’s grandma when she was alive.

At about 2am Andrew walked Kara home. She said “goodnight” and slipped inside Andrew returned to his house. The next day Andrew got up early and met Kara outside for their morning run. He kept talking to her about Vinny. “Kara, I really think there was something going on in there!”

“Babe, don’t worry about it.”
“How can I not?”
What’s the big deal anyway, I mean even if you’re right?”

“It’s not bad. Just different and I don’t want him being made fun of.”
“I understand your concern, but Vinny can handle himself, and it’s not taboo anymore.”
“How are you so calm about this Kara?”
“Andrew he’s your brother and you will always love him not matter what.”
Kara eventually calmed Andrew down, after deciding the best way to finding out would be to talk to Vince. Helping him by opening up and telling him that Andrew cares about his well being.

A few days later after lunch Andrew talked to Vinny alone. Vinny didn’t respond except for “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Why do you think this?”

Later that week Vinny came out of his room while Andrew was cleaning the living room. Vinny asked “Andy, Uh , can we talk?”
“yeah” Andrew replied.
“Let’s sit” Vinny said.
Andrew sat on the couch next to Vinny. “Okay what’s up Vin?”
“Andy, I think  you were right, I think I’m gay but I still like girls too. I mean I like Kara and some other girls but at the same time I like boys.” Andrew let this soak in before responding, he finally said “you like Kara?”
“Andrew did you not listen to me?”
“Yes I did, but you like Kara?”
“Yes I like Kara; she’s intelligent, whole hearted, devoted, caring, and beautiful. Who wouldn’t like Kara?”
“okay…”
“Don’t you like her?” Vince asked.
“Vin, I’m no good for her. Even if I did like her, we’d never be together. I’m the guy who breaks hearts we’re just real close friends. And we are what we are.”
“Andrew if you didn’t notice… Let me fill you in on something I’ve noticed”
“What?”
“Kara adores you! She lives for the time you devote to her. She always has he camera for one because she loves photography, but especially because she loves photographs of you. You mean a lot to her. If you can’t see that I don’t why she lets you mean so much to her.”
Andrew didn’t respond he just sat there. “Andrew, Kara would do anything for you!”
“Vince, you are seriously clueless all the girls are like that she is just me best friend.”
“you’ll see.”
Just then Kara walked in the door. “Hi boys! What’s going on?”
“Nothing, Just talking to Vin.” Andrew responded hastily.
Kara sat down next to Andrew. Vin Laughed a little “You’ll see I’m right.” Vince said to Andrew.
“Right about what?”
“Oh Nothing.” Vin responded.”
Vince then walked back up to his room.
“Andrew what was he talking about?”
“Nothing.”
“Obviously something?”
“It was really nothing important.”

The two of them decided to spend some time on their genetics homework. Then they got around to go to a party with Carl.

At the Party, Andrew got a beer, and Kara stuck close to her bottled water.

Part 6

At the Party Kara stayed close to Andrew while various girls came up to him to talk. He had a few beers, and Kara started talking to a boy she knew from school. Andrew went off with a brunette named Stacy. At first Kara didn’t notice, but when she did, she texted him. “Where’d you go?”

He didn’t reply so 10 minutes later she called him. No answer. Now she was getting upset, she spotted Carl and went to him and asked “Have you seen Andrew?”
“He’s with Stacy.”
“Uh where?”
“Getting some pussy, you don’t give him any, he’s got to get it somewhere.”
“Fuck you Carl.”
“you’re a little bitch.”
she walked to Andrew’s car and sat on the trunk, and waited. Fifteen minutes later Andrew called her back. “Where are you?” she asked
“Looking for you!” replied Andrew.
“I’m at your car.”
“I’ll be there in a second.”
She snapped her phone shut, and he came out the door a few minutes later. She put her hand out for the keys as he walked up, and he slowly placed them in her hand.
On the way home there was a very awkward silence. “are you mad?” Andrew asked breaking the silence.
“yes.”
“why?”
“Because you took off with some tramp without saying anything to me about it.”
“you’re not my mom or my girlfriend, I don’t need your permission!”
“Andrew. I didn’t say you needed my permission to go screw some slut, but when you go to a party with someone, it’s common courtesy to tell them if you are taking off.”
“Stacy isn’t a slut.”
“Whatever Andrew.”
“Kara you’re not perfect either.”
“Yeah, but I’m known for the good things I do, not all the guys I give head and screw.”
“Why are you tripping out?”
“Because Andrew, I just don’t know anymore.”
“what?”
“I devote all my time to you and you still can recklessly blow me off like that, and think it’s okay with me.”
“Kara, What do you want?”
“Nothing at all.”
She pulled into Andrew’s driveway and handed him his keys, reached for her hand bag. For the first time since they met at the party in the city last fall, she walked the whole way home alone.

The next morning Kara changed her route for her run, so if Andrew even bothered to get up, she wouldn’t cross paths with him. He called and texted a bunch of times, but she ignored them all.
This went on for a week, even at school she managed to dodge him. He came to her house and she wouldn’t let her parents let him in if they were home, and when they weren’t she’d just look out the window waiting for him to give up and walk away.
The Next Sunday Andrew had gotten really upset nothing he was trying worked. He didn’t know how to make her respond, so he could apologize. He sent her a text, so he could see if she’d reply yet. Vince had even noticed that Kara hadn’t been around at all so he asked what was going on.  Andrew told him what happened, and Vince was shocked that his brother was so stupid and also that Kara had stayed away so long.

Later that day Andrew was sitting in his room trying to work on his massive amount of homework, which didn’t help get Kara off his mind, when the phone rang. He hoped it’d be Kara, but it wasn’t it was Stacy.
“Hello?”
“Hey Drew!”
“Hi.”
“Want to get some dinner with me?”
“Um Not really.”
“Why not?”
“I’m busy Stacy.”
“Oh Okay I guess.”
He closed his phone and continued his home work.

Kara was on her way home from the tanner. She’d been spending her time at school, doing homework, tanning, and reading. She hadn’t answered her phone to anyone except her parents, who rarely called, only to tell her they’d be late. When she got home she read through her texts from Andrew and thought about talking to him, but she didn’t know if she was ready to forgive him, or what to say to him at all.

Part 7

Kara decided she was ready, next time Andrew tried to get a hold of her, she’d respond.
She laid in her bed reading “crank” by Ellen Hopkins, when she heard her parents come in. they yelled to her so she sat her book down and made her way downstairs. They’d brought home dinner from Damon’s, Andrew’s favorite restaurant. She got plates and silverware from the kitchen and brought them to the table.
“Did you get your home work done?”
“yes, even some extra credit.”
They ate dinner and when finished Kara washed the dishes. Then she returned to her room to read.

That night she fell asleep waiting for Andrew to text,  or call. But his next reaction didn’t happen. The next morning Kara got up and got around for school. She contemplated going down to his house and riding to school with him and Vince, but the decided it wasn’t the best idea. After school she came home and worked on her homework, Andrew still hadn’t tried again, she was worried he’d given up so she texted him.

She heard a knock on the door, she went to answer it and to her surprise it was Vince. “Hey Vinny!”
“Hi, Kara… Can we talk?”
“Yeah, sure what’s going on?” she asked as she lead him into her house.
they sat down at the bar in between the kitchen and dining room.
“Kara, Last night Andrew went to a party and he was drinking.”
“Oh, did he go along?”
“yeah. He got into an accident on his way home.”
“Is he alright”
“Well, he’s in the ICU, and we aren’t sure right now.”
“oh my god.” She started to cry.
“I was wondering if you could take me to see him?”
“Of course.”
She left a note for her parents and they went to the hospital.
When they got there, the room was flooded with people from parties she’d seen multiple times, one including Stacy who was standing next to him, crying and kept saying “Andrew I love you, you can’t die, if you die, I’ll die.” At the Kara got somewhat frustrated and Vince sensed it so he went to the nurse at the nurse’s station and asked them to clear the room so he could have time with his brother. So she did.

Vince took Kara in with him, she was heartbroken to see Andrew in that kind of condition, he was bruised and on all kids of monitors, his face was slightly swollen, and had a pretty deep gash in his cheek, and one on his arm.   Kara sat in a chair by his bed and Vince took a seat across the room. After a hour of silence, Andrew woke up enough to see she was there, he put his hand out for her to take, and whispered her name. Tears flooded from her eyes. “you’re going to get better Andrew, you have too.” She whispered. She stayed there holding his hand all night. In the morning Vince and her went home and got changed for school. At school the day took forever, she waited for Vince and they went straight to the hospital. She worked on homework there and when Andrew was awake she talked to him. He responded as much as he could.

For the next three weeks Kara spent all her free time with Andrew at the hospital, he made progress day by day, and three and a half weeks later he went home. He was on crutches because his ankle was still broken. Kara helped him catch up with his school. Graduation was about a month and half down the road.

Chapter 8

The week Andrew came homes, his grandfather laid down some rules. Number one being absolutely no drinking, until after graduation. That he goes to school, Kara's, work and nowhere else. He did not go to school for another week, Kara brought his homework home and they worked to get it all caught up. He was still behind when he went back to school, which was really frustrating to him. Kara and Andrew hardly ever talked except for about homework every day. Neither one of them ever brought up the fight, but it was still fresh on both minds. Kara tried to mention it once, but got nervous that it'd cause another fight and that was the last thing that either of them needed so she stopped.

After working on physics for two hours the decided to take a break, Andrew went outside for a cigarette, Kara followed sitting next to him on the stairs. He put his arm around her, not affectionately but more to get it out the way. She smiled at him, he then says “you know I missed having you around before the accident.”
“I missed being around.”
“What am I going to do with you all the way in the city next year for school?”
“Andrew it’s not like it’s that far away, its only 15 minutes.”
“I know, but you’ll be so busy with college life, you’ll never have time for me.”
“You know that already huh?”
“Yep.”

She learned on his shoulder, “no matter where I’m at in the world, Andrew I’ll always have time for you.”

He leaned down, like he was going to kiss her, when the door opened.
Vince was walking out. They stopped and collected themselves and their thoughts.

“Don’t let me interrupt.”
“Kind of late for that!” Andrew muttered.

Andrew finished his cigarette, and they went inside and back to his room. Andrew lied down on the bed and Kara sat in his chair. “I don’t feel like studying, want to watch a movie?” he asked.
“I suppose, although we shouldn’t procrastinate much more than we already do.”
“I promise we’ll get it done, let’s just rest our brains for a little while.” He said.
He turned on the TV and found a movie on HBO. Kara moved to the bed next to him and this time he put his arm around her with a little more affection, intent. She curled up next to him falling asleep half through the movie.

The next 2 weeks went by fast, and Kara was the only reason Andrew was eligible for graduation. They went and got their caps and gowns and went to graduation rehearsal. After it was over they went to lunch and back to Andrew’s house, there was an unfamiliar car in the drive way. They walked in and both surprised to see his mother sitting on the couch, she stood up and walked over to him, he hadn’t completely made it in the door she reached out and hugged Andrew, he pulled away and walked back out the door. Kara quickly followed.

They Walked to Kara’s House, while Kara asked Andrew, “who was that woman?”
He didn’t respond. Just looked like he was torn on whether to cry or be pissed off.
Once inside they sat down, and he finally said, “I don’t understand why she thinks it’s okay to walk out of someone’s life for almost 9 years and just walk back in and think everything is going to be okay.”

“So It was your mother?”
“I don’t know what she was, but she’s definitely not my mother Kara.”
“That’s not what I meant. I don’t know what to say…”
“Not much to be said, except for I’m not going to be there while she’s there.”
“I can’t force you to do anything, but maybe you should tell her how you feel.”
“I can’t…” he stated as tears welled up in his eyes, she wrapped her arms around him, while he cried softly. “Kara I still remember the day she didn’t come back and get us. She dropped Vince and Me off at grandpa’s for the night, and told us she’d come get us in the morning, and take us to Disney. Then never showed up, my grandpa tried calling her, no answer… he tried for three weeks before both her cell phone and the house phone got disconnected. My grandpa put out an ad for a missing person.  A month later, the cops came and said they found that her bank account was being used somewhere in Nevada, and they tried contacting her but she wouldn’t talk to anyone. So we gave up. We realized that she didn’t want us.”

Kara just sat there, holding him and he held on to her like she was going to walk out.

“Why would she come back now, nine years later?”
“Maybe she realized how awful what she did was, I really don’t know, no one knows except her.”
“Well, There goes the joy of this week, being done with school.”
“Andrew be proud, you did it without a mother, and I know if I was a mother and my kid got through school without me, I’d feel like shit.”
“She is shit… Kara?”
“yeah?”
“I’m scared of losing you, I’m scared that one day you’re going to walk out on me.”
“Andrew, I don’t ever want to lose you. You’re the best friend I’ve ever had. I’m not going to just walk out. I care about you, and I understand your fear, I mean I’m always scared that you’re going to just stop talking to me for a girl like Stacy or some girl is going to come between us, but…. I have no intentions of ever losing touch with you.”

“Honestly no girl will ever come between us.” He leaned over and kissed her, she kissed him back. “No girl, will ever be like you Kara. No girl will have the will power to have a conversation with me for hours on end, and to put up with the shit I do.”
“Andrew, you’re an amazing guy, lots of girls would do what I do.”

He kissed her again. “What I’m trying to say is I love you.”
“I love you too Andrew.”
